Your expedition starts here. At each visit, you can expect more than just a checkup and regular dental cleaning for your little ones. We ensure a fun environment and compassionate care to ease any anxious feelings as we review your child’s oral health.
For infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, the first visit to the dentist can be intimidating and your child may feel vulnerable. We use the behavior guidance technique of Tell, Show, Do, Apply. You’ve probably already used this method in some form with your child when teaching a new skill.
You can cultivate your child’s enthusiasm and comfort by talking about what will happen at their appointment. We will count and clean their teeth and may need to take pictures of their teeth with x-rays.
You can model counting your teeth, brushing your teeth, and read books that show positive examples of going to the dentist.
Role-playing enables your child to model the behavior you’ve told and shown them. You can take turns being the dentist and brush and count each other's teeth. We recommend lying in a reclined position since some children feel exposed when they lay back.
When you visit our office, we will review and reinforce the skills you have practiced.
We’d love for you to bring a few things along for your first visit.

“I recently switched both my sons' dental care to Expedition Pediatric Dentistry and am so happy I did. Dr. Miller and the rest of the team are great. My son has sensory processing challenges and everyone was so patient with him when it took him awhile to get comfortable with certain aspects of the dental exam. I never felt rushed or pressured, it was a great experience.”
